England will host home Test series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka in the coming weeks. In preparation for a busy summer of international cricket, Ben made his return to County Championship action.
In working up to peak fitness for these two series, the England Men’s Test captain pulled on the Durham shirt to face Lancashire at Blackpool.
Playing as an allrounder, Ben showed his well-being by bowling 38 overs and taking 7 wickets in the match. Importantly for England, and indeed Durham, his wicket haul included second innings bowling figures of 5-98. Despite Ben's bowling efforts, Durham could not prevent Lancashire claiming a vital win over the visitors.
Ben’s appearance at Stanley Park was his first County Championship start since May 2022 when Durham travelled to Lord’s for their encounter with Middlesex.
